05/26/21; Week 6: Response to "Individualism vs Collectivism"

I have always thought that a good job is better when done as a team, but for the job to work it needs individual work for an excellent achievement of the objectives. In my own experience I have seen cases in my school in which some do more than others and even the work of others, because they do not have mastery of that task and we simply agree, because the institution moves forward as a team, that is why individualism is so necessary to that there is equity for the sake of a single objective which is the solid growth of our students.

In an educational culture, the results are astonishing when each student is given instructions and makes the most of them, individual activities are necessary for them to be autonomous and have that freedom of expression, thus managing to act by themselves. When our students have the ability to fend by themselves, they can contribute in a positive way in a collective work, taking it forward, because this makes that knowledge compact and everyone learns from their strengths, because we all have weaknesses that we need to strengthen, and that is achieved with collectivism.

In countries like the United States of America, culture is so wide and varied that many teachers and students are oriented to individual and group work, because they come with this training, and that is when the teacher applies their strategies to involve all students and treat to match them to the same level and can work on both aspects. I come from a culture in which I have had to fend by myself to get ahead in life, and thanks to our heavenly father I continue to do so, and he has also given me the wisdom to be able to contribute collectively for the common good of the educative community.

Comments

  1. When we fend for ourselves, we develop an appreciation for hard work and sacrifice and want to contribute to our group or society. What bothers me a lot is individuals who think they deserve help all the time and don't want to pay the price of self-development.

  2. I like to work in a group to get ideas and share my ideas as well, but at the end I prefer to do my own personal individual work.
