06/3/21; Week 7: Response to "Culture and Psychology"

We have dealt with the subject of culture in these two weeks, and we have addressed every cultural aspect worldwide. That is why these two questions come from me. How does culture influence our psychology? How does this allow us to learn and take advantage of that to get ahead in life?      Listening to brother Ivers about his experience in the Yucatan peninsula about that eighty-year-old old man is really amazing, I could understand why that man felt ashamed of not being able to hunt an iguana that day, and it is that really many times they do not come out things as we want despite our expertise in doing something; It is like for example, when we are good at something and suddenly someone comes along who has never done it and suddenly does it better than us, really that can make us feel bad and we become a little ashamed and much more if our people see us lose. I can understand that this directly affects our self-esteem, but we must understand and b...

06/3/21; Week 7: Response to "Differences in Manners"

Customs and manners are practices that are learned in the first instance at home, basically they are what define our education, and as such we must be aware of what and where we are to demonstrate it with a good attitude.      One of the first things that I learned since I remember was to pray, greet adults and everyone where I went, give things in hand and a very important and sacred thing that was on the table when we served our food that it was about having your hands under the table, I will never forget that. 06/1/21; Week 7: Response to "Cross-Cultural Students in the Classroom"

When I started my career as a teacher, I did not know what this entailed, but I did know that I was going to walk on a very enriching path for both my students and myself. Along that path as a TESOL teacher I began to experience some situations with my students that at first I could not master, but then I analyzed each situation and understood that my students come from different subcultures and I began to be aware that they can not only be students from my country, but also from other countries so it had to address them more thoroughly, therefore we teachers must always bear in mind that we are faced with different cultural paradigms.      I believe that we all agree with the fact that there is a wide variety of cultures that involve customs, that in the educational field, students interact and share their customs when they meet, identifying that sometimes there is similarity between one and the other; however, due to their differences, they could g...
